MIRA Lab is an international event for artists, developers, curators, agencies and public working with creative technology for performances, shows and visual arts in real time.

MIRA Lab empowers people in the visual arts field through the mutual exchange of skills and experiences. MIRA Lab is defined to be an international event that promotes p2p, puts theemphasis on the process, and promotes the creativity through innovative activities

During the 2013’s edition of the festival Estereotips has been invited to give a public talk about our artistic practice and the centrality of coding as new literacy.

Below you can find a very simple slide with the main concept expressed during the talk.

I’ll try to share my experience about how free software and open technologies change the way art is created. And how this new practices draws new gographies for artist and creator.

Open source, Art and nomadism
In the rising of network society a new creation paradigm has born: open creativity and free sharing of knowledge as resources. Practices such as DiY (Do it Yourself) and DIWO (Do it With Others) are today used effectively from wide range of artists. The geographic cartography of artists both as individual and collective, has changed as results: a new kind of nomadism in which every one build his own territories.

During this lecture artist and researcher Luca Carrubba will share his experience related to this issues.

Tomorrow nigth (Vietnam time) we will present our work here in Ho chi Minh. We gonna to perform Duale, an interactive dance performance, work-in-progress, research. Duale cames out from our movement and technology studies for distopia choreography and want to create a space of intervention and improvisation on the relationship between body and technology.
Set up it here in HCM was jot so easy due to our lack of technological equipments: no computers, sensors or cameras. But with the help of new friends we got some hardware to run the performance.
Le Than Theater is an important place in HCM for contemporary dancers that are interested not only in ballet. Seems hard around here find something else than ballet and in this theater they organize an open stage session inviting companies and artist from others countries.

Art through Spaces: Digital, Virtual and Real

From satellites to virtual spaces, from body performance to video games, sound composition and practice is never an isolated domain in my personal view.
By working with digital data, and being not a classical composer, I look at sound as an interconnected domain related to others. By Trying to connect different domains (digital, virtual and real space, etc) in such organic ways I research for alternative reality views.

As estereotips we have been invited as guest artist and we will particating during all the two weeks long with a couple of performance, some lectures and to the openlab activities.

We are intruder in an event totally focused on media art in south east asi. For us it will be a great occasion to join this scene and learn new things. I nd Gin are looking really forward to be in Ho ch Minh because the event program is so reach and artist invited are all new ro us. Please, check the program and you will see!
