Estereotips is a project born in the city of Barcelona in 2005 from an idea by Luca Carrubba.
Since its inception Estereotips has been creating different kind of media works all involving free software as tool and free culture as reference.
VJing software “Qeve / GemQ” or work as “Tu Tagghiu” and “Dreaming Satellites” denotes the interest to create interactive experiences that share a critical reading of reality (and technology). With Gina Castilla joins the project in 2010, Estereotips has been focusing in the performing arts, movement theory and the relationship between body and technology. Artistic research as “distopia visual” or “Duale” express this interest.
Actually Estereotips is based in Berlin.
Luca Carrubba
is an artist, digital craftsman, and independent researcher and educator. His artistic production focuses on the interaction between audio and video (always sharing the practices and code of both disciplines) in relation to the human perception. His practice expands from the philosophy of DIY (Do It Yourself) to the ideas of DOT (Do it Together), DIWO (Do It with Others), knowledge sharing, accessibility, recycling, social movements and videogames. He has organized and participated in many workshops about free and open source software/technology/culture in Italy, Spain, Germany, France, UK, Argentina, Brazil, Palestine, Colombia, and China.
Graduated with honors in Sociology of Communication from the University of Rome La Sapienza (Italy), Carrubba developed his artistic practice in institutional and underground media labs in Barcelona and Madrid. He recently joined ARSGAMES group with the focus of videogame as a tool for digital art’s creation.
Gina Catilla
Gina Carolina Parra Castilla, (Colombia, 1980). She studied Contemporary Dance at Academy of Arts of Bogotá (Academia Superior de Artes de Bogota). From the very beginning of her artistic practice she has participated to many workshops and research projects focused on coreography, sharing practice with different kind of communities, like aborigenous and people with disabilities.
During 2009 she get a MA in “Dance and arts of movement” (Murcia – Spain) and she get invited in an artist residence at Matadero “Intermediae” (Madrid – Spain) for the developing of body and technology dance piece. This experience has been inspiring for determine the new boundaries of her research exploring those relationship.
During 2010 she was awarded with new dance creation prize from “Le Bains Numerique 05” festival (Paris – France) with the work “Fotograma completo principal” by Aniara Rodado Company. She studied in various parts of the world somatic techniques to heal an injury that took away from the dance for a while. She joins Visual Madrid Collective in this same year with who created different video dance and experimental dance works that have been shown at festivals in Europa and South America.
Recently she works as independent on her own creation together with estereotips collective.
She is a ph.d candidates in Universidad Rey Juan Carlos III (Madrid – Spain).
